WE ARE NEUMO

from now back to the beginning

The Third Generation

Since November 1, 2024, Dr. Marc Ehrenberg strengthened NEUMO GmbH + Co. KG and became part of the management. He is the youngest son of our long-standing Managing Director, Wolf Ehrenberg, and his wife Brigitte, and thus represents the third generation of the owner family. This step highlights the significance of the Knittlingen site for the NEUMO Ehrenberg Group and reflects the deep-rooted connection of the owner family to Knittlingen.
With over 15 years of experience as in-house counsel in the pharmaceutical industry, Dr. Marc Ehrenberg is not only highly familiar with the sector’s specific requirements, but also brings fresh input and valuable new perspectives to the company.

In 2023, NEUMO  recorded a turnover of €44.8 million and employed 210 staff members at its Knittlingen site. Originally specializing in the production of dairy fittings, the company has undergone a profound transformation over the decades. Today, its entrepreneurial focus lies on high-quality system solutions for the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors – a shift that impressively demonstrates NEUMO’s spirit of innovation and future-oriented mindset.

Commitment

In 2018, the Ehrenberg family began initial discussions regarding a possible new building and the multi-stage relocation of the company's former location to a new site. Following the planning and approval of this new building concept by the town of Knittlingen and the Ehrenberg family, the go-ahead was given and a suitable commercial property was purchased. The ground-breaking ceremony in September 2020 by the brothers Harry and Wolf Ehrenberg, among others, marked a new milestone in the history of NEUMO, with which the owner family made a clear commitment to the Knittlingen site.

The Second Generation

In 1990, Wolf Ehrenberg joined the management of NEUMO and gradually relocated his primary residence from Berlin first to Karlsruhe and afterwards to Knittlingen, the company’s headquarter. With extensive technical expertise, entrepreneurial foresight, and knowledge, he brought fresh impulses to the organization.

Wolf Ehrenberg recognised the growth potential of the pharmaceutical industry at an early stage and shifted the initial focus on the dairy industry to the booming pharmaceutical sector. A new and strategically important focus was set. In particular, the focus on the cities of Frankfurt and Basel, which established themselves as emerging centers of pharmaceutical innovation, offer ideal conditions for this reorientation.

Final Years

When Henry Ehrenberg passed away in 2009 at the age of 92, he left behind a remarkable life’s work. As an outstanding individual, he led a major company with foresight and dedication. Beyond his professional achievements, he was a strong family man, husband, and father of four. His exceptional accomplishments were honored with three major awards: Honorary Senator of the University of Tübingen, the Grand Cross of Merit with Ribbon, and the naming of Henry-Ehrenberg-Platz in the city of Knittlingen

New Beginning

In 1947, his success story began with a small engineering office in the town of Knittlingen. The modest office – initially located in the back room of a small hotel – quickly expanded. Henry Ehrenberg found a suitable site in the western part of the town. The company, which initially specialized in the production of dairy fittings, created a resonant name: NEUMO, derived from "Neue Molkereitechnik" (New Dairy Technology). The company rapidly developed into a leading supplier of components for the food industry. When the life sciences boom emerged in the 1990s, NEUMO made a groundbreaking strategic decision: it shifted its focus to sterile technology. Today, NEUMO is a leading technology company in the field of sterile fluid systems, developing, producing, and supplying pipes, fittings, connection technology, vessels and heat exchangers made from stainless steel and high corrosion-resistant special alloys. These are used in the complex processes of biotechnology, chemical, pharmaceutical, beverage and food industries as well as the semiconductor industry. The portfolio is supplemented by various patents in connection technology.

Beginning and Turning Point

Henry Ehrenberg was born in 1917 in Opatow, Poland, and grew up as the fourth child of a Jewish family. He successfully attended the Chemical Engineering School in Warsaw, known today as Faculty of Chemical and Process Engineering at the Warsaw University of Technology. There, he laid the foundation for his future professional – until the outbreak of the Second World War.

Thereafter, persecution by the Nazi regime began: labor camp, ghetto, concentration camp. Shortly before the end of the war, he managed to escape captivity – he and one sister were the only survivors of his family.

Senator Henry Ehrenberg

Many words have been used to describe Henry Ehrenberg over the course of his life: doer, strategist, visionar, cosmopolitan or yet perhaps none more fitting than – mastermind.
