1.4462 Duplex

The material 1.4462, also known as duplex stainless steel, is a special grade of stainless steel that combines both ferritic and austenitic microstructures. This combination provides it with higher strength and better corrosion resistance compared to conventional austenitic stainless steels. Duplex 1.4462 is particularly resistant to stress corrosion cracking and is well-suited for applications in the chemical industry, oil and gas sector, as well as marine environments. It also offers good weldability, although the use of duplex steels carries a risk of intermetallic phase formation, which requires special care during processing.
